LEARNING IS MEDITATION
During my continuous research work to unearth various psychological factors leading to human success, failures and happiness, I realized that life poses new challenges to only those who don’t get into the habit of conscious continuous learning. In this article I would be sharing wisdom learnt from my patients in this field and highly successful people. Mother Nature pushes all animals to learn during their life cycle. Unfortunately, in the case of humans we don’t follow it after certain age, in certain domains. To be fully benefitted we must first start getting aligned with the concept of “Learning is Meditation”. Some key inputs to make learning meaningful are:
- Get 100% physically, mentally & emotionally involved during learning with undivided attention.
- Remove all clutters from mind.
- Accept the person from whom you are learning as your mentor, irrespective of age or any other factor.
- Learn by absorbing every input like a dry sponge and consciously avoiding the conflicts within.
- Never learn alone is a powerful philosophy in many cases. Choose a partner i.e., someone with whom you will share whatever you have learnt. Develop firm mindset that you will share everything with the chosen partner and enrich your chosen partner with whatever you have learnt. Make a habit of sharing on regular basis. Encouraging children to share their learnings with younger ones will put them in the loop of “learn to teach and teach to learn”. Believe you me, teaching is the best method to learn.
- While teaching stand like a pillar, be passionate and facilitate the learning of your buddy.
- Encourage your buddy to ask questions. When the buddy questions your point of view, then you must strive to find the right answers. By encouraging your buddy to ask questions you will in fact uplift your learning ability. Don’t be disheartened if you are not able to answer all the questions fully. Assure the buddy that you will revert after clarifying the same with your mentor. Be rest assured that your mentor will give you right answers to all your queries or will guide you on from where to get answers.
- During learning and sharing be open to explore new paradigms. Whatever we are today is basically because of our learnt paradigms and the resultant hardwiring created in our brain. Willingness to relook into own paradigms help in reducing inner resistance and mental blocks. New learnings may many times hurt & break you. It may even make you think “is it really the right approach?” but be open to change. Some of the new paradigms can bring breakthrough results.
- Never go to a place of learning without a pen and notebook or an appropriate recording tool. Without these tools a learner only ends up damaging own self like that soldier who has gone to a battlefield without right arms and ammunitions.
- Understand the most volatile place to store information is our brain hence follow the philosophy “Never end up only thinking….always convert your thinking into inking”.
- I always tell people that during the process of learning ask every question in your mind openly and fearlessly. Living with ignorance is highly injurious to self and loved ones. Once you have been answered with the right answers, your fear and inhibitions will vanish, and you will become enriched. Don’t fear what others may think about you, whenever you are your asking questions.
- Most important thing is, remain energetic and enthusiastic to learn in every place, all the time.
This process of learning with a commitment to take definitive action and sharing with others can go a long way in your life. It will keep you always updated and fighting fit in this ever-changing world. Make learning your meditation.
